Ways to Help

As a registered nonprofit organization run solely by volunteers, Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is always in need of contributions by people like you – people who are eager to make a difference in the life of an animal.

There are many ways you can help, from volunteering your time, to making a gift (monetary or otherwise), to adopting or fostering one of our dogs ... even shopping! Please see the bottom of this page for a list of all the ways you can help Almost Home!

Why help?
You might be surprised to learn what a difference your time or donation can make. And think about this ... you can volunteer just once, and save a life. In addition ...

 You can save lives
Many dogs we rescue would be euthanized or otherwise die from injury or sickness. We have a strict no kill policy, and we never turn our animals over to shelters. All of our dogs live in AHDRO-approved foster homes until they are adopted into their forever homes.

You can help to create a better future
We alter all of our rescues and as a result we are cutting back on the number of unwanted dogs. In turn, this reduces the number of homeless and neglected animals.

 You can increase social awareness
Many people don’t realize the short-term and long-term effects of continued overpopulation – each year in the United States 4-6 million animals are euthanized.
You really do get as much as you give ... and often a whole lot more!
You can live longer and be happier
Studies have shown that people who volunteer live longer, and that participating in volunteer activities is strongly related to positive self-esteem and life satisfaction.

 You can make new friends
By volunteering with us, you will meet others who share your passion and convictions. AHDRO is an active and close-knit group, comprised of caring people. We all support one another through frequent communications and personal involvement. You can choose to participate to the extent you wish – a little or a lot – but either way you will feel needed and appreciated.

You can gain a new perspective on life
What better way is there to gain an appreciation for what you have than to help those in need?
Remember, whatever your reasons, volunteering or donating just one time can mean the difference between life and death for a dog.
