Meet Meggy

Description:

When Meggy came to Almost Home, she was so badly matted that her skin was breaking down, and there was feces in her fur. But even though her body had challenges to face, her sweet and loving spirit was alive and well.  Today her fur is growing back and as her “mom” says, “She is so darn cute.” Apparently, she had never been brushed. The first time her fur was long enough to be brushed, she acted like someone was trying to kill her, but now she just enjoys the attention and the feeling of the brush gliding through her much healthier coat. Friends of the family dote on her and bring toys, although she just hasn’t quite figured out what to do with them. She accepts the toys politely then gently puts them down.

Meggy is food-motivated and loves her treats. She’s welcome to sleep in her human’s bed; however, she prefers her own bed on the floor right near her mom. Was it mentioned that she is food-motivated? She surely is — and she also has the uncanny (but classic) dog skill of seeming to tell time. Some mornings she barks before anyone else is awake to tell the humans it is breakfast time, and although her supper is at 5 p.m., she starts staring at her mom at 4:30 on the dot.

She does well with the household cats, puts her paws on laps to get nuzzled, and is a true sheltie love. Everyone is delighted that she has fit right into their home and hearts.
